Dave Raps – “Too Unknown” (Mixtape)
Presented by Ashley Outrageous and mixed by DJ Flow “Too Unknown”, the newest mixtape from the very talented Dave Raps. This is the have 3rd project from the NY/FL native and it shows exactly what his name says, that he can really RAP. His last two projects “Yes I Do” and “Class Act” seem to back this up and made it very clear what he came to do. “Too Unknown” is a face paced ride through a ton of artists instrumentals from Drake, Kanye West, Lloyd Banks and many more but Dave comes through and reclaims them as his own as if they were his from the start. From start to finish this project has something about it that makes you instantly want to hear more and explore who he is. The funny thing about it is that he is a hidden talent, which makes him as an “gem artist” in my eyes. Meaning that it makes it dope to listen to him because alot of people have never heard anythign from him, dope nonetheless.
When i first hit play i began to get a feel of his smooth and charismatic rhyming style. The tape opens up with J. Cole’s “Grown Simba” and Dave comes through and steals the whole show. As Im going through the tape i can really get a feel for this guys style, not only that but his taste in music as well. he has a pretty good understanding of music and he is ACTUALLY rapping about real life experiences other than made up fictional accounts i.e drugs, money women. It is very refreshing to hear and see a young dude coming out of the bottom of the map doing his thing, rapping about REAL life and getting noticed for it. The main point of this mixtape isn’t to get his name out there but it is to show what he can do as an artist. As “Unknown” furthers on Dave spits “This mission seems impossible so i guess I’m Tom Cruise’n it” on Drake’s fireworks and paints a very distinct picture of the interesting life he leads.
Although i happened to listen to this mixtape before his last two projects “Yes I Do” and “Class Act” I have a better understanding of who he is as an artist and I will be keeping an eye out for this dude’s BRIGHT future. I definitely think that its fair to assume that if he keeps up the good work more people will hear his name and become instant fans. If i have anything to do with it i will make sure that i turn my friends onto him. Amongst the many various artists out right now i honestly think that if Dave was to catch a major deal or something that he can benefit from he could really take it to the next level. Im looking forward to seeing the direction Dave goes within the next couple years, the kid deff has something to keep people’s attention. Ill be keeping an eye out for him in 2011 and i hope you will as well.
