Movie News: Spike Lee To Direct “Oldboy” Remake

July 6th, 2011 | Posted by JoeBxCSNW in Uncategorized

The legendary director of Do The Right Thing is taking on the remake of Park Chan-Wook’s film, Oldboy. The 2003 South Korean film about a man who is captured and imprisoned for 15 for reasons unknown and then released into a world filled with vengeance against the person who did him wrong.

The film was previously attached to Steven Spielberg and Will Smith, but with Spike on the project, it is unknown whether or not the two are still attached to the film

Also working with the new adaptation of Oldboy is Thor’s Mark Protosevich, and the film will be produced by Doug Davison and Roy Lee.

I am a big fan of the first movie, and this remake could possibly be an interesting re-imagining. In my opinion, the original film is a classic so I have nothing but high hopes for this film.

And if you haven’t seen the original Oldboy, check out the trailer below
