UFC 152: Jones vs. Belfort “Future vs. History” (Video)

September 5th, 2012 | Posted by JoeBxCSNW in Sports

Before I get into the details of this match-up, let’s recap a little bit on how this match-up came about. Current reigning UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon “Bones” Jones was set to defend his title for the 4th time, against MMA legend Dan Henderson, at UFC 151 which would’ve taken place September 1st, 2012 this past Saturday. However, due to circumstances beyond anyone’s control (well, for the UFC event staff anyway) Dan Henderson unfortunately suffered a knee injury weeks prior to the date of the fight and nobody wanted to fill in for Henderson to fight Jon Jones due to personal reasons and the only man who was willing to fight Jones on short notice, Chael Sonnen, was turned down by the champ himself. So ultimately, the UFC decided to cancel the whole UFC 151 pay-per-view event. The cancellation affected many of the people involved in the event, such as the under card fighters, because it left them without a pay day and it affected the fans who set aside time and money to attend the show. There are a lot more things I can say about who, what, when, where, why, and how it affected fighters and fans alike but there’s nothing I can say that hasn’t already been said on the internet. So moving on.

Now, Jon “Bones” Jones will be facing a completely different opponent named Vitor “The Phenom” Belfort,  who himself was a young champion in his own right and is a certified MMA legend in the UFC. Stay tuned as I will be highlighting both fighters and their careers later on today but for now, enjoy the preview for UFC 152: Jones vs. Belfort.
