LA mainstays Murs & Fashawn drop a new video today, paying tribute to the dirty days of BET Uncut. Be sure to pick up This Generation today. This video is pretty NSFW, kids
Every Spring in Southern California, legends and up and coming artists assemble at the Paid Dues Music Festival hosted by Murs and Guerilla Union to put on one of the biggest shows of the year for Hip Hop’s loyal fans. This year, the Paid Dues lineup didn’t hold out on fans, and the fans responded with the masses, with over 25,000 fans filling up the San Manuel Amphitheater in San Bernardino, California. From Mobb Deep, Talib Kweli, Jean Grae (the only female artist on the lineup) to Joey Bada$$ and Flatbush Zombies, the span of decades covered for Hip Hop fans was very diverse. Headlining the event we’re most recent breakout artists like Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Black Hippy, and Dom Kennedy. With a lineup like that, it’s safe to say that the day was constantly active on any of the three stages that Paid Dues had to offer.
Wasting no time since dropping This Generation with Murs recently, Fashawn gives us his latest offering of tunes featuring Mr. MFN eXquire and Wiz Khalifa. Pour up and roll up after the jump for the tracklist and link.

Big homies Murs & Fashawn have linked up for a nice little concept project which will be released September 25th. As you know they are both very dope and notable MC’s, so you know this project will be interesting. Entirely produced by Beatnick & K-Salaam If you haven’t gotten a chance to listen to the first leak from the project “Slash Gordan” do so below. Also below is some info explaining the project’s concept in full. You can also catch them on the Rock The Bells Tour promoting the album as well.
The title This Generation represents “an amalgamation of all the different styles and eras,” says Murs. The two feel that it’s their job as “praised, skilled wordsmiths” to document the ever-changing times we live in. The duo is jointly composed of youth and experience, and Fashawn felt that they could “add two separate accounts and bridge the gap.” Everyone has a voice in this generation, but few have stepped into the forefront to synthesize the rambling of millions of conversations. Videos will be filmed for tracks “This Generation” and “Slash Gordon.” The satiric video for “Slash Gordon” features the two MCs in a rocket ship, acting as “hip hop angels trying to save the world,” comments Murs.
The album was entirely produced by duo Beatnick and K-Salaam, who, in the past, have worked with artists Lil Wayne, Freddie Gibbs and Mos Def among others. Fashawn comments, “They bring a brand new sound. We couldn’t picture any other producers. They could do an instrumental solo as a third verse and you wouldn’t be mad.” The producers chose to forgo the traditional sampling route in favor of original compositions. The production contains an array of sounds, blending the smooth, laidback vibes of 90s west coast g-funk with the aggressiveness of overdrive guitars and other exotic instruments. There are no features on the album, as both MCs “had a lot to say. It would be like overseasoning a perfect dish.”
