Q-Tip Signs w/ G.O.O.D Music (News)

April 11th, 2012 | Posted by JoeBxCSNW in News - (0 Comments)

If G.O.O.D Music wasn’t already strong enough with their roster, they just added one dude that will definitely fortify it some more. Q-Tip of Tribe is the newest member of Yeezy’s team and is looking to release The Last Zulu as his first project. This move is HUGE. Here’s what Tip had to say about his new deal.

“I’m excited to be a part of the great iconic Def Jam label,” said Q-Tip. “I’m humbled to be a part of such a storied history. To reconnect with Barry Weiss is a great thing. As far as G.O.O.D. Music, I’m excited to solidify my working relationship with Kanye, and I look forward to all the opportunities that lie ahead in our partnership. I will do my best to present the most cutting edge music I can.”

The seventh annual Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival’s headliner, “Q-Tip & Friends” turned out to be quite a lineup. The emcee from A Tribe Called Quest was joined by Native Tongues superstar brethren Busta Rhymes, who performed “Scenario” with the Queens, New Yorker. The Roots’ Black Thought also appeared prominently during the set, backed by J. Period at deejay.

The crowd erupted when Kanye West took the stage, and assisted Q-Tip in performing “Award Tour,” as well as “Dark Fantasy” and “All of the Lights” from My Beautiful Twisted Dark Fantasy.

Other performers in the day-long event included M.O.P., Kendrick Lamar, Diamond District, Homeboy Sandman, Lords of Underground, Stalley and others.

The 5th mixtape in the series that seems to never end. To make this short and sweet this 30 track mix has joints from Dom Kennedy, N*E*R*D, Tyler The Creator, Q-Tip, Mya, Rihanna, Rell, Joe, Frank Ocean & Janet Jackson. Full version and mixed version along with tracklist after the jump. Enjoy.

It’s been more than two years since we last officially heard from Q-Tip. His previously shelved Kamaal/The Abstract dropped in 2009, though most are aware that record was actually due out in 2002. So we can consider his next album, apparently called The Last Zulu, his follow-up to 2008′s The Renaissance, which stood as one of that year’s finest records. Q-Tip revealed the name of his fourth record in an interview on Shade 45. He also said that fans should expect a concept album that combines world music and boom-bap to make an something that is, in his words, “Probably going to be the hardest s**t I ever did.”
